A rolling green lawn is certainly beautiful, but it takes a ton of water, chemicals, equipment, work, money and precious time. So how about a rolling green ground cover that does it all, all by itself? And yes, there is mulch – lovely mulch – but if it is wood chips (lovely wood chips) then it is highly flammable. We can't have that in wildfire country, now can we? If we can use it away from structures it's fine, but if not - how about living mulch?
Living mulch can blanket your soil with a protective layer that keeps the sun off, holds moisture in and shields your microbiome from harm. It also suppresses weeds, reduces erosion, keeps the dust down, feeds the microbiome, promotes biodiversity, and builds healthy soil. What's not to love?
